He just completed his degree at Kenyatta University studying BA (Business Studies and Economics). He began reciting poetry in high school (The Lenana School) in form 1 and represented the school in the national music festivals from form 1 through form 4. He was the best in Nairobi in form 3 (2001).

Dan began to write his own poetry in 2006. Actually, his first poem is dated 12th July 2006. He’s not the “academic” or classical poet who is bound to number of stanzas, lines per stanza, use of Queen’s English or coastal Swahili, etc. he writes as he would speak on the street. His style is heavily biased towards hiphop.

Maddo, one of Kenya’s long standing media cartoonists, and Sasa Hivi Media launch Maddo’s Online Archive & Community website ‘Itsamaddworld.com’.

Maddo has continued to engage Kenyan readers with his satirical look at Kenya, the world, people and politics for the last 22 years, through his full page composite cartoon feature ‘It’s a Madd Madd World’ that appears in the Standard newspaper ever Saturday.

The launch will be spiced by the Spotlight artist and Ohangla man ‘Makadem’.

Intriguing glimpses into a cupboard full of family skeletons, together with detective work, combine in this unusual suspense play, to keep everyone guessing until the very last page. A man, still protesting his innocence, returns home from prison, after serving fifteen years for allegedly murdering his mother. Who did kill Mother? It takes an apparent suicide and a good deal of amateur sleuthing before the truth is revealed and the lady can be taken away…

Exhibition Discussion/Public Forum: “2 Shacks Dimensional’, May 3 2011 @ Kuona Trust

As a way to create a platform for dialogue and to get response on the ongoing exhibition, this activity will bring together the curator and the participating artists one last time before the exhibition is uninstalled on the 8th May 2011.
The artists – Omosh Kindeh, Dennis Muraguri, Cyrus Kabiru, Anthony Wanjau, Kepha Mosoti, Meshack Oiro, David Mwaniki, Michael Mbai & Gakunju Kaigwa shall be present to discuss their practice – work, challenges & frustrations in a bid to find out why sculpting has lost its prominence and answer questions asked by the audience which will include artists, students, writers or just the general public.
This will be a platform to articulate the work and assess the exhibition by getting input from the audience.
