Noches del Tango: Tango film, music, dance, Nov. 8 & 26 2011 @ Alliance and Tribe

The Patamango Association, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Argentine Republic to Kenya, is organising two cultural evenings of Tango, combining film, music and live dance! Each of these Noches del Tango will start with a screening of a superb tango music film, followed by an exhibition of traditional tango social dancing. Subsequently the floor will be open for a Milonga, or social tango gathering, for the dancing pleasure of the growing tango community in Nairobi as well as for the aural and visual pleasure of everyone else!

These unique tango music film screenings, never before screened publicly in Kenya, will be in Spanish with English sub-titles.
Entrance to both these evenings is absolutely free, and so please do bring along all your friends who are intrigued by the mysteries of tango and its music!

The programme for Noches del Tango is as follows:

6:00 pm – Tue 8 Nov 2011 – El último aplauso
Evening starts in the Auditorium at Alliance Française in Nairobi, at 6:00 pm for film screening at 6:30. The 88 minute landmark tango musical documentary–with its absolutely gorgeous soundtrack–will be followed by a live Tango exhibition, just upstairs from the Auditorium at the Multi-Purpose Room and Terrace. Everyone, dancers and non-dancers alike, are then invited to stay on and get a first-hand taste of a Milonga, as the dance floor is opened up for “social tango dancing”, a great opportunity to simply enjoy beautiful Tango music and dancing!

4:30 pm – Sat 26 Nov 2011 – Si Sos Brujo: una historia de tango
Evening starts in the ERC Hall at the Tribe Hotel, at 4:30 pm for film screening at 5:00. The 79 minute–beautifully shot, beautifully put together, and a real insight into the world of tango music–documentary will be followed by a live openair Tango social dancing event, or Milonga, just outside at ERC Patio, during which there will be live demonstrations of traditional social Tango dancing! Everyone, dancers and non-dancers alike, are invited to stay on to simply enjoy beautiful Tango music and dancing.
