Exhibition: New Horizons, Nov. 24-Dec. 15 2011 @ National Museum

The National Museums of Kenya is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by Chege Gitura who is showing his paintings to the public for the first time. For those that know Chege well, he has practiced interior design for several years but until now he had not pursued his basic instinct… to paint. He has duly called his first exhibition New Horizons.

Chege finds his inspiration in people and places, his paintings attempt to capture intricate aspects such as the proportion, body form, the facial expression, the hair, the adornment.. on canvas and oil through generous and fearless applications of thick textural paint using the palette knife technique which intentionally omits fine details, but still portrays the character intended.

Welcome to view this premier show from November 24 to 15 December 2011 at the Creativity Gallery Nairobi National Museum.
Daily 8.30am – 5.30pm
Entrance: Normal rates apply
