Although Mzungu Kichaa has performed in Nairobi before, this will be his first performance in the city with his full Tanzanian band Bongo Beat! The group has just returned from a tour in Europe where they performed 15 concerts.

Mzungu Kichaa means ‘the crazy white man’. A name given to him by Tanzanian artist Juma Nature after he met him for a collaboration at the Bongo Records studio in Dar es Salaam. The choice of the name “Mzungu”, which is a derogatory word for “a foreigner”, is extremely ironic to say the least: Mzungu Kichaa is all but “foreign”. Mzungu Kichaa speaks fluent Kiswahili and wrote all his songs for his first album TUKO PAMOJA in the language. The album was nominated Best World Album at the Danish Music Awards, while his music video Jitolee received airplay across Africa. The release also saw him win Best Upcoming Artist at the African Achievement Awards held in Copenhagen.

Kichaa’s interest for African music started at the early age of six, when his family moved to rural Zambia. He would soon learn to play traditional Tonga drums with his friends at weddings. His enthusiasm for learning local music traditions gradually transformed his life story. His music, and his multicultural identity has helped unite cultures and people across race and social status.

Prepare yourself for an intense musical experience and a unique blend of hip hop, reggae and Congolese guitar, when Mzungu Kichaa and Bongo Beat take the stage at Sarakasi Dome on 2nd November from 7pm. During the concert, Mzungu Kichaa will release his 2nd collaboration since “Jitolee” featuring Tanzanian artist Professor Jay. The new collaboration will feature one of his favourite Kenyan artists.

Tools and physical portfolios such as Electronic Press Kits (which includes, audio, video, pictures, press material and artist Biography) will be highlighted and developed. Practical skills will be developed, within Event Management, including fundraising, proposal writing, budgeting, marketing, negotiation and contractual agreements.
