We’re also proud to welcome Toby2shoes, South Africa’s favourite genre mashing funkster, back again to #KilifiNYE2016!

We have also confirmed a full line-up of incredible musical depth drawn from across Africa, Europe and the States, and over the next few weeks we will be introducing you to a troupe of traveling troubadours who will keep the dancefloor rocking throughout this year’s event. We’ll be publishing a full schedule soon!

All this will be taking place in one of East Africa’s most unique and stunning settings. Our build team of artists, sculptors and industrial designers are hard at work putting together a wonderland of electric installations and mind-bending decor. It’s going to be even bigger and better than last year’s event!

The Beach Baobab Stage has been confirmed as the venue for the second night! We have extended the festival into a second day this year, so save some energy for January 1st as the incredible music continues from 4pm. Dance under the stars, swim out in the phosphorescence, jive in the jungle, and witness the hypnotizing beauty of the burn at the Lake of Fire Party!

This is going to be an amazing journey and you’re all invited!

Venue: Distant Relatives Backpackers Eco lodge, Kilifi

About
Multimedia artist, free thinker, ardent opponent of anything authoritarian, Greg Tendwa’s style is described as mending social reality through music, photography, fashion, food, stories & games.

Gregg Tendwa pioneers a sound called ‘Bengatronics’. “It’s that afro-goodness brewed when benga music meets electronics. It’s some comedy when keeping authentic vibe alive. It’s here. It’s a journey through Afro-pop to Nu-Disco, to saving Benga music. It’s a neutral moment. Without borders yaani bila mipaka in Swahili”.
He is the man behind the WIBO Culture movement – an experimental, self-evolving art initiative that envisions an open and connected global community through culture and the creative arts. In music, Tendwa is a DJ, producer and remixer who brings an Afrolectic aesthetic to his works. His choice of music can be described as full of afrogoodness blended with a layer of percussive sounds from the diversity of African instrumentation. His selection often ranges from Afrohouse to Afrofunk, Afropop, Afrojazz, Afrosoul, and Afrobeat, and whatever other experimental music formats that appeal to his style.

In 2015, his performances have seen him tour Arusha, Jinja, Kampala, Dar Es Salaam and Amsterdam, in addition to headlining the EABL Shekereka Tafrija promotion launch in Nairobi. He has shared stage with German Dj Duo Schlachthofbronx and the Jimmy Hendrix of Kora, Sekou Kouyate from Guinea at Up Life IV. He is the creative director and resident DJ for Afrofusion Tuesdays @ Havana, Santuri Society Sessions @ The Bus and Rooftop Sundowner @ PAWA 254, Nairobi.
