About
One Off is delighted to start the exhibition schedule for the year, with the exhibition ‘Black Angels have Red Wings’ by Ngene Mwaura who currently resides in the United States. The works are a fascinating web of tiny marks, whilst the ‘whole’ carries a powerful message which is firmly rooted in Africa.

Ngene advises that you ‘Step back; there is a panorama of thoughts, ideas, love, and journeys. If you look closely you can hear what I have to say – get closer to what I’m saying. I am just a messenger travelling through uncharted terrain…’

The Embassy of Belgium will organise the first Belgian week in Nairobi from February 17 to February 21.

What would you think of if people ask you about Belgium? Right, its famous chocolates, its fine cuisine and its varied music scene. During the Belgian week in Nairobi these three aspects in which Belgium excels will be presented to the Nairobi public by the arrival of the talented Belgian chef Olivier Bruckner (L’Olivier, Namur), the renowned Belgian chocolatier (Chocolates Gerbaud, Brussels) and last but not least, the best Belgian jazz band Jef Neve Trio.

A taste of Belgium in Nairobi Serena Hotel

Belgium is a food-obsessed country. Belgians are a people who love their local products and are proud of their regional specialties. Belgium is not only about chocolate, beer and Brussels sprouts and we aim to bring a Belgian culinary experience to Nairobi. In cooperation with Nairobi Serena Hotel, Belgian chef Olivier Bruckner will present you a Belgian fine cuisine dinner from 17 to 19 February. The Belgian chocolatier Laurent Gerbaud will organise some workshops at the hotel.
