Hilariously we will get to know why the best man for the job is a woman. What will Kenya be like under a woman president?

We all have arguably shouted from the rooftops that this country Kenya cannot and shall not be ruled by a woman. That there is no place at the top for a woman to hold. That is a position that is traditionally held by men and so women should forget it and take their rightful position. The second position.

Heartstrings Kenya in a ridiculously hilarious manner and their fashion will show that our president doesn’t have to be a woman. And this is because the women have become small presidents in their many positions that they have taken in our society. The way we all drink, eat, breathe, belch, talk, sleep, wake up, etc etc. is all controlled by woman. The hard fact is that whatever each and every individual Kenyan does, a woman is the one who finally decides. So if the society thinks that we don’t have a woman president, they are wrong because we have them in offices, factories, homes, and schools. They are our mothers, wives, girlfriends, concubines, secretaries, mama mbogas, house helps, etc etc.

A woman is not ruling Kenya, but a woman is surely ruling the world.

We will never look at this country in the same way again because what a man can do, a woman already did it better.

In this Play, Honourable Martin Mwangi is in the most dreaded period of an MP’s life- the year just before the ELECTIONS. The journey has been hard and as expected the power too sweet to let go. He engages crooks to make sure that his rivals are kept literally toothless and under control as he goes for another term.

In his quest to amass wealth and more power, the Honourable MP comes face to face with the worst of fears- his world is falling apart and he’s lost control… of EVERYTHING!!! With a spoilt and overly promiscuous daughter, a wayward son who is a drunkard and hates literally everything… well almost everything, except the beer bottle, and a house maid who is in charge of all his household,he soon discovers that even his most trusted Chief Campaigner is upto something. Something good? Something nasty?

The unfolding drama reveals a past that has come back to haunt him…. a past that proved that indeed, mess, we can.

Manuscript Project calls for the submission of unpublished fiction manuscripts from African writers across the continent and in the Diaspora. The prize seeks fresh, original work that explores and challenges the possibilities of the novel.

Sauti Sol will be performing their just released album, ‘Sauti Sol’ for the first time. The album is an experimental work in which Sauti Sol has embarked on an exciting mission – to embrace their artistic versatility and blend their signature harmonies with the futuristic sounds of avant-garde South African rapper/producer Spoek Mathambo. The end result of this much-anticipated collaboration reflects the band’s mission to break (African) musical stereotypes and borders.

To understand events like the 2007-08 post-election violence in Kenya one needs to go back in history.

This effort requires the following of the Kenyan State from the colonial but most importantly from its post-colonial trajectory. This is the focus of Charles Hornsby’s latest book, “Kenya: a history since independence.” Traversing key features of the Kenya post-colony, Hornsby looks at issues such as the politics of redistribution, the saliency of ethnicity and the operation of corruption in Kenya since independence.
The book offers fresh evidence and as such new insights on Kenya’s post-colonial history and will surely remain a widely referenced title in years to come.
The launch will be accompanied by a short discussion on the debates that the book tries to raise or tackle.

Copies of the book will be on sale and Hornsby will gladly be present to autograph sold copies as well.

BOGOF presents Still Cape Able, Aug 4 2012 @ Hilton

On the 4th August, the B.O.G.O.F. (Being Only Great of Finesse) arts extravaganza returns, to the Hilton Nairobi. The event dubbed Still Cape Able will take place between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Entry charges for the event will be Kshs. 300.

The B.O.G.O.F. will feature a wide array of performers from poets, artists, singers’, rappers, sketch artists and photographers.

The poets scheduled to perform are; Abu Sense, Number Eight, Samo and The Almighty. Cynthia Waliaula, Marie, Charlie Ouda and Lele Band with grace the stage with their musical prowess. Sammy Luvonga, a first time performer, will feature in the nouveau artist segment.

Also featured will be DreamteamVille, an upcoming rap group who will launch a new single. Sketch artistes Siege, Rama, Denet, Melpractie and Nduta will add flair to the event with their visual art. The photographers Rowena and Magic Lens will take pictures for the event which will be displayed on the website www.thebogof.com and on the Facebook page.

About the B.O.G.O.F
There are dozens of events in Nairobi City, amid all the humdrum here is an event with a purpose. The B.O.G.O.F. ™ (Being Only Great of Finesse) is an event that occurs almost every two months and is hosted at the Hilton Hotel Nairobi.

The B.O.G.O.F seeks to revolutionize self using a blend of Music and art. It was founded by Le Cleric in December 2010 and the first event was on the 14th of that month.

Since then there have been seven B.O.G.O.F events with the next been the eight. The overall objective is to create a platform where artists and fans can interact through socially positive content that will empower individuals to be the change they want to see in society. Kenya Si Pwani is a play that follows a group of youths on death row waiting to be hanged in a prison yard, in their faces they remain defiant of charges and no ounce of guilt betrays them. They are a product of the evils of political attackancy. Mere henchmen made for the society by the society.

Come learn their story adapted from hangmen also die comes a case of same script different character translated from one part of Africa to the other, from one era to the next.
