Jeanne, a young actress, sets out to discover the truth about her heritage. On her birthday, she discovers that her father is an ‘Untouchable’ from India whom her mother met on the banks of the River Ganges. Jeanne takes on a film role she had previously rejected in order to make the journey to India and meet the man who gave her life.
Phoenix Players Proudly presents CHANGING GENERATIONS directed by George Mungai. This Musical Production was first presented in 1992, and was written by James Falkland with music by Joy Mboya and Suzanne Gachukia. It Premiers this Friday 26th November 2010.
This is a story of a group of young Kenyans who have just graduated and are in the throes of celebrating this achievement but this is shadowed by a cloud of uncertainty of the future- corruption, lethargy, politics; getting jobs…Kim (Waithaka Gatumia) and Josh (Bryan Alufwani) are buddies and are in serious relationships with Purity (Jane Gathoni) and Bella (Darshani Haria). The hurdles begin to unfold when Kim’s Mother is opposed to this relationship and regards Purity as a ‘gold digger’ of obscure breeding. On the other hand, Josh’s Father cannot imagine his son getting hitched to a girl of different color. The young couples have their own self inflicted challenges. The issues in 1992, interestingly, are still the same today!! The cast is fresh and highly talented, backed up with an amazing band

The Solidarity for African Women’s Rights (SOAWR) Coalition will be holding a PUBLIC FORUM on the theme: “Breathing Life into AU Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa on the eve of the 5th Anniversary of its Entry into Force”. On the occasion of the 10th Lamu Cultural Festival, the Embassy of Spain has invited the Ensemble Andalusí de Tetuán for a performance in Lamu followed by another in Nairobi.
After its participation in the 10th Lamu Cultural Festival, the group Ensemble Andalusí de Tetuán will enchant the audience with this concert of Spanish medieval music, traditional Sufi songs and music from the Arab Mediterranean.
The musicians include Youssef el Husseini (lute and voice), Aziz Samsaoui (Kanun), Fathi Ben Yakoub (viola and violin) and Muhsen Kouraich (percussion).
