The 1st Showcase Wed. of the year will feature the qanun player D’Bass Ganun from Tanzania, incorporating this ancient Egyptian string instrument into the vibrant traditional music of the Ndengeleko from Rufiji.
About
Mbwana Mtulia, also known as D’bass Ganun, is a talented Tanzanian singer, songwriter, bassist and Qanun (Ganun) player. The Ganun is a 10th Century ancient Egyptian string instrument.D’bass picked up an interest in the instrument from his late father, a Qanun maestro, who tutored him.
