About
It is difficult to know how much Somalia loses to illegal fishing by foreign vessels, but estimates range from USD 100 million to over USD 450 million per annum. Illegal fishing costs Somalis jobs in fishing and post-harvest fish processing, and it costs the Somali state revenue that could be secured from landing fees, licenses, taxes and other fees paid by legal fishing companies. Unregulated illegal fishing also causes overfishing, harming the marine environment and destroying local fishing communities.

Join the Rift Valley Forum and Adeso for a panel discussion of the effects of illegal and unregulated fishing in Somalia and the ways in which they can be addressed. This meeting will launch Adeso’s report Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing in the Territorial Waters of Somalia. There will also be a screening of Adeso’s short film Illegal and Unregulated Fishing of the Coast of Somalia.

Moderator: Rashid Abdi, International Crisis Group

Panellists: Abdi Mohamed Dahir – Adeso, Kifle Hagos – The University of Rhode Island, Bashir M Hussein – Researcher, Pauline Gibourdel – Delegation of the European Union to Somalia

Recognised with international awards at film festivals around the globe, the cinema from the Portuguese-speaking world is still mostly unknown to the general public. This 240 million people linguistic community is a thriving one, promoting over 80 film festivals and cinema awards every year, with movies mostly consumed in the respective countries.

The Lusophone Film Fest is a showcase of the diversity of film production in the eight Portuguese-speaking countries spread across 4 continents. The festival presents multiple works (documentaries, animations, shorts and feature films), in sessions of several films from the different countries.

Headline act: Nora En Pure

About
At the core of Indie Dance and Deep House music, Swiss based Nora En Pure is on a quest to fulfil her need to arouse feelings of bliss and inject unconventional and serene sensations to be carried out into the world. The vivid South African, has already proven to be quite productive, what resulted in deep and funky works of audible engineering for the label Enormous Tunes and Tokenish since 2009. Besides her passion for Africa, only music has been able to steal her feelings to that extent leading her to dedicate more and more mind and soul to it. The melodic but mesmerising club music has been fashioning a big and an undoubtedly dedicated fanbase.

Her Remix for Daniel Portman’s KHAWERI in 2010 got huge reactions from all global players, became the preferential mix of the single and launched her career as a producer. In 2011 her track YOU MAKE ME FLOAT hit Top 50 of Beatport charts, made the cut onto legendary Buddha Bar Compilation and got over 500k views on Youtube. In fall 2012 she released AURELIA, which became a requested club hit and made it on various compilations. Her crossover chart hit COME WITH ME first saw lights in February 2013 and made its way up on top of Beatport charts, and remained in Top100 for over 7 months.

2014 has been a great year as well for Nora En Pure, and has seen her touring all over Europe, South America, North America, Africa and Australia. On the production side she has collaborated with the likes of Wretch 32, Aston Shuffle, Adrian Lux and Klingande and her records have made her a Top100 selling artist.
