East Africa’s most prestigious spectator motor-show event, the CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance.

This year’s will be the 47th edition of Concours d’Elegance, a lifestyle event that is acclaimed for the beauty and elegance showcased by both the competitors and the spectators. Apart from the judging of 70 classic and vintage cars and 40 motorcycles – the centre piece of the event – there will be a grand finale involving; pyrotechnics, a fashion show and live performance by Nyashinski. The theme for this year’s Concours is, Beauty and the Beast.

The Trap Neuter Release (TNR) Trust will host an event to raise funds for the Trust’s new Mobile Clinic. There will be dinner and a show by the highly acclaimed Sitawa Namwalie and Aleya Kassam and a raffle.

About
TNR Trust, a registered Trust in Kenya, was established in 2015 following growing concerns over the stray dog and cat population in regards to animal welfare, disease control and population management.

The Trust aims to combine education on rabies and animal welfare with affordable rabies vaccinations and spay/neutering. This will curb the burgeoning dog and cat population and reduce the spread of the fatal disease rabies. This will, in turn, reduce the human mortality rate and improve community health.

Sitawa Namwalie is exploring the many ways of telling stories. She is a poet, playwright and performer. She wrote “Cut off My Tongue” (2008), “Homecoming” (2011), and “Silence is a Woman” (2014) which won Kenya’s Sanaa Theatre Awards Best Spoken Word and Poetry in the same year. Her second play “Room of Lost Names” has been performed to critical and popular acclaim at the Kampala International Theatre Festival and Ubumuntu Arts Festival Kigali.

Aleya Kassam is a Kenyan reader, writer and performer. She has been published in Jalada, Mail and Guardian Africa. She blogs her musings at www.chanyado.wordpress.com, which was nominated for Best New Blog at the Blog Awards Kenya 2015. She has performed in ‘Stories from the Mall: A Westgate Memorial’, and acclaimed shows ‘Silence is a Woman’ and ‘Cut off my Tongue’ amongst others.

An exhibition on FOOD WASTE With artists from IKV Internationaler Künstlerverein e.V., Hawa Artists and the participation of the German Embassy in Nairobi.

Due to global mass-distribution the world is divided into the very rich and the very poor where a disconcerting percent of the population, especially children suffer from hunger. As taken the year 2050 will see an explosion of the population that will widen this gap – about 40 percent more food is needed! Research about the food distribution shows that at the moment nearly the same rate of food products is wasted either as crop on the fields, insufficient warehouses or transport, lack of processing or during distribution and at the consumer level.

The gap of available food and demand could be closed theoretically by a better transfer of know-how and a change of consumer habits. The exhibition of the IKV-Club of international artists supports the awareness of Food Waste as a challenge through this collaborative exhibition by African and German artists.

About
The exhibition is within the concept of the first African Food Waste Congress organized under the leadership of the University of Nairobi that brings together worldwide experts in agriculture, food processing and the total supply chain to work towards solutions for this problem.
