ANIMATION EXPO 2012
The 3rd Animation Expo held in March 2011 was a great success with over 500 people attending and 19 exhibitors showcasing their work. This year the Commission has expanded the Expo to include exhibitors from both the film and animation industry. The Film & Animation Expo 2012 will provide an excellent opportunity to trade, network and to showcase local productions.
The Film & Animation Expo will be held at the Prestige Palm, Prestige Plaza, Ngong’ Road on Saturday, 31st March 2012, beginning 9.30am

The French Language & Francophone Week, Mar. 19-24 2012 @ Alliance
The French language and Francophone week was initiated in 1995 by French Ministry of Culture and Communication with the aim of promoting the French language widely and is marked annually around March 20th, World Francophone Day. It is an occasion to celebrate a language that unites over 200 Million people around the world, bringing together a diversity of cultures that continue to enrich the language and promote peace, democracy and human rights.

“Eden Is West” (2009, 1h50) is directed by modern Greek-French filmmaker Costa Gavras. It tells the drama of illegal immigrants in Europe.

Homages: Cajetan Boy, Feb 10-11 2012 @ Goethe-Institut
Kenyan Film is making big strides, but many of its protagonists are not well known, not even in Kenya. It’s time to pay homage to their works. This series at the Goethe-Institut paid homage to Jacob Barua, Judy Kibinge, Willie Owusu, and Jane Murago-Munene. It now continues with another major protagonist: Cajetan Boy.
Cajetan Boy is a playwright, screenwriter, lecturer in screenwriting, performing artist, and the Products Development Leader for Et Cetera Productions Limited, an independent film and TV production house. His first full-length play was Benta (2000) which was published and later produced as a feature film in 2006. Many of his stage plays have also been produced as feature films.
Other than film and stage, he has written extensively for Comic Books, Radio, and TV, i.e. several episodes of dramas, soaps and sit-coms. As usual in this series, a representative selection of his corpus of work will be screened, and accompanied by a discussion with the filmmaker.
