Images de France, a week of French cinema
The Festival will offer to the Kenyan public very recent award-winning movies. The screenings will take place in the auditorium of Alliance Francaise, and for the first time in the Silverbird movie theatre at Westgate.
The screenings will take place from Monday to Friday at 10am for school groups and 18h for all age groups at Alliance Francaise, and 18h and 20h30 at Silverbird Cinema Westgate.
On Saturday at 11am at Alliance Francaise, and 16h and 20h30 at Silverbird Westgate. On Sunday at 16h at Silverbird Westgate.
Entrance is free.

Screening, Discussions & Cartoon Exhibition: The Fight Against Impunity, Feb. 7-11 2011 @ Alliance Française
Dunia Moja Trust and Transparency International present a forum for reflection and discussion on the Agenda 4 of the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation agreement that ended the impasse following the disputed 2007 General Elections. Through a series of screenings and discussions led by experts from both the Government and Civic Society organizations, the forum seeks to use films to raise awareness about the fight against impunity and corruption in an effort to provide impetus for Kenya’s fragile reform processes and enhance the respect for the rule of law in Kenya.
An exhibition of recent cartoons by Kenya’s leading editorial cartoonists will compliment the screenings offering a poignant background to the current situation.

African Movie Academy Awards: Feb. 25-26 2010 @ Laico Regency Hotel/Carnivore
7th edition of the annual Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) Nomination Night and Music Concert.
The Nomination Night will take place on Friday, February 26 night at the Laico Regency Hotel in the Nairobi Central Business District and some of the stars set to attend include Nollywood greats like Joke Silva, Olu Jacobs, Rita Dominic, Mercy Johnson, Ini Edo, Mike Monsuruye, Jackie Appiah, Lynda Forson, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal and Mike Ezeronye among others.
Another feature of this year’s Nomination Night is a concert that is scheduled for Saturday, February 26, at Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi’s Lang’ata. The main performers will be Nigerian P-Square and J Martins and yet to be announced musicians from Kenya and South Africa.
Homages: Judi Kibinge – A Series of Retrospectives on Kenyan Filmmakers, Feb. 4-5 2011 @ Goethe Institut
2010 was a successive year for Kenyan film. The impact of films such as Pumzi and Soul Boy is a good occasion to take a closer look at the Kenyan film scene. Many of the protagonists are not well known, not even in Kenya, and Goethe Institut takes time to pay homage to their work. Homage series started by introducing Jacob Barua to a keenly interested audience last year and continues with Judy Kibinge.
