The Quinzaine de la Francophonie, refers to two week of events that promote the French language and the Francophone cultures around the world.In Kenya, the events run from Sunday March 11, 2018 to Wednesday March 28, 2018 and will include; pétanque tournaments, concerts, movie screenings and much more!
The culmination of these events will be on Sunday, March 25, 2018, during the Francophonie Day which will be celebrated at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
Join over 4 500 people, in Kenya, who attend the Francophonie Day each year – and participate in a day full of games, exhibitions, shows and much more.

Ni Sisi, tells the story of a typical Kenyan village in the context of post-election violence. The characters explore issues of corruption, political bribery, racism and gossip. Friends who have lived and worked together all their lives are consumed by rumours and mistrust.

In this film, we follow Nina, a young stifled artist, as she returns to her community after a long absence – she is soon painted as a symbol of gentrification.
As she struggles with her own complicity, we follow her mission to create a piece of art that can bring her community together. On her journey we speak to real people affected by gentrification in Brixton, blurring the line between reality and fiction.
After the screening, Writer/ Director Shola Amoo will be in a curated conversation discussing his portrayal of the role of the artist in the community and themes from the film.

The Embassy of Spain informs that the Goethe-Institut Kenya and the NBO Film Festival is presenting The Arthouse Film Society, a new monthly event that seeks to bring independent cinema from around the world to Kenya’s cinema space. The festival seeks to introduce the filmmakers to the Kenyan audience and selected filmmakers will be invited to present their works, conduct workshops and avail themselves for Q&A’s after screenings.In this regard, the first film to be screened is “Crumbs”, a Spanish-Ethiopian Science fictional love story, directed by Miguel Llansó, a Spanish filmmaker who will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening which will be at the Century Cinemax Junction Cinema on the 14th of June at 7 pm.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea presents the annual Korean Film Festival from 6 to 9 June at the Alliance Française. Korean Cinema has seen a spectacular boom in recent years. The Festival will open with the film ‘Train to Busan’ which premièred at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. This live-action film by independent animator Yeon Sang-ho is about a zombie outbreak on a high-speed train.
