The Eastern Africa office of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is calling for short and long fiction, documentary, animation and experimental film entries for its 2012 edition scheduled for April 2012. The deadline for submissions is November 30, 2011.
Only films produced and released between December 2010 and December 2011 are eligible. Features may not exceed 120 minutes and shorts may not be longer than 40 minutes.

Since its inception in 2005, AMAA has established itself as the most prestigious and glamorous awards celebrating filmmaking on the continent. The gala event, which is televised live around the world, attracts Hollywood celebrities alongside their African counterparts, as well as African politicians and media.

This exhibition is a selection of the best submissions in the 4th PhotoAfrica Contest whose theme was urban space.
This exhibition takes place thanks to the collaboration and support of Embassy of Spain in Kenya and Kenya International Film Festival.
Media Development in Africa [MEDEVA] in conjunction with the GoDown Arts Centre, continues the search for a TV presenter to take up the fame and command the Kenyan youth to their TV screens.

Paa ya Paa is calling all creative artists to contribute their ideas on what they love about Africa for an exhibition called “In Love With Africa”.
This exhibition aims to pay tribute to all the beautiful things that we love and cherish in this continent. Let us come together to show our love for Africa in our own unique way to celebrate our common ground.
How can we show that we are “in love” with a continent?
Is it really possible to do this?
What do we love personally about ourselves and our lives that we would like to share with others?
Who are the people in Africa who have inspired us and make us love who we are?
How can we work together to continue to make Africa proud?
Calling on:
Painters, photographers, mixed media artists, sculptors, pottery and ceramic and textile artists, poets, writers, children and adults, all of you artists out there, come forth!!!
Many of you have your own special way of telling a story through art.
The theme is to pay homage to Africa, both in a personal and broader perspective, including personal art stories that make you proud to be African or connected with Africa.

Come with a short statement about your work as it relates to the above theme. It will accompany your artwork at the exhibition. Works may be for sale or not for sale. If for sale, there will be a 30% deduction against sales to defray costs.
MORE DETAILS
An artist or poet may bring no more than 2 works for the show.
The size of the artworks should not be larger than 1 sq. meter.
The artworks and poetry should be fresh work unless it is a tribute to an African hero/heroine, regardless of ethnicity.
SCHOOL CATEGORIES
We encourage children to participate through their class or art club groups. We would allow you to organize through a teacher and submit what he/she feels are the best entries.

Fern Poetry Project will see poets, Bernard Muhia, El Poet and Jaju and a comedian/thespian Daddy Marto, visit five schools around the Nairobi Area to present poems on human trafficking for purposes of creating awareness on the vice.
They will be doing this through a project funded by Koinonia Advisory Research and Development Service (KARDS).
The project targets students in high school.
The objectives of the project are;
i) Popularizing anti-Trafficking in Persons through poems that are recited in front of the students.
ii) Encouraging the submission of artistic expressions in the form of essays and poems from students on the theme of trafficking with the aim of exhibiting them.
iii) Holding a competition on poetry and story writing on the theme of human trafficking amongst students in high schools with a prize of Kshs. 1,000 for the winner and Kshs 500 and 300 for the first and second runners up respectively .
