Music/Poetry: Rhythm & Spoken, Aug 24 2012 @ Urban Flavas

A music and poetry open mic jam will be taking place at Urban Flavas Bar and Grill, Kobil, Ojijo Road, Parklands (next to K1) on Friday
24th August. Doors open at 8.00pm and the open mic runs at 9-11pm.
There will be an Afro-groove after-party courtesy of the Urban Flava DJ’s.

Entry is Sh300. Free for R&S early sign up poets. Free R&S mix cd’s for first 15 guests.

BOGOF presents Still Cape Able, Aug 4 2012 @ Hilton

On the 4th August, the B.O.G.O.F. (Being Only Great of Finesse) arts extravaganza returns, to the Hilton Nairobi. The event dubbed Still Cape Able will take place between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Entry charges for the event will be Kshs. 300.

The B.O.G.O.F. will feature a wide array of performers from poets, artists, singers’, rappers, sketch artists and photographers.

The poets scheduled to perform are; Abu Sense, Number Eight, Samo and The Almighty. Cynthia Waliaula, Marie, Charlie Ouda and Lele Band with grace the stage with their musical prowess. Sammy Luvonga, a first time performer, will feature in the nouveau artist segment.

Also featured will be DreamteamVille, an upcoming rap group who will launch a new single. Sketch artistes Siege, Rama, Denet, Melpractie and Nduta will add flair to the event with their visual art. The photographers Rowena and Magic Lens will take pictures for the event which will be displayed on the website www.thebogof.com and on the Facebook page.

About the B.O.G.O.F
There are dozens of events in Nairobi City, amid all the humdrum here is an event with a purpose. The B.O.G.O.F. ™ (Being Only Great of Finesse) is an event that occurs almost every two months and is hosted at the Hilton Hotel Nairobi.

The B.O.G.O.F seeks to revolutionize self using a blend of Music and art. It was founded by Le Cleric in December 2010 and the first event was on the 14th of that month.

Since then there have been seven B.O.G.O.F events with the next been the eight. The overall objective is to create a platform where artists and fans can interact through socially positive content that will empower individuals to be the change they want to see in society. Join us on August 4th 2012 and bare witness to creativity.

Wamathai Spoken Word July, a poetry, music and photography showcase, is on July 14th at the Michael Joseph Centre at Safaricom Headquarters, Waiyaki Way.

The event will be hosted by Sam Buggz and Stella Nasambu.

There will be Poetry Performances by: El Poet, Jemedari, Mwende Ngao, Kenyan Poet, Raya Wambui, Kevin Man Njoro, Michael Kwambo, Samo Bryton, Kavosa, Hosea Munyoro.

Music by: Demspey and the Boys, Ndila & Liron

Photography exhibition by: Koa
