DISCO BOUTIQ is a new series of events that will mainly focus on promoting a wide variety of old and new African Dance Music through Live and DJ Acts. Our events aim to feature Artists and Music that we rarely get a chance to hear and see.

BATIDA
is the brainchild of Angolan/ Portuguese Pedro Coquenão. A distinctly modern and vibrant project with its feet firmly rooted in the past, Batida combine samples from old 1970s Angolan tracks with modern electronic dance music. Music is the starting point but through dance, poetry, photography and video, Batida expands, taking in politics and social commentary but always bringing the party.

ZELALEM
is one of Nairobi’s sought after eclectic DJs who’s well-known for his wide array of African Music selection.

DISCO VUMBI
is a band that plays a fresh new form of Kenyan Dance Music created by one of Kenya’s newest innovative producer, Alai K, an artist recognized for his Hip Hop and Afro Fusion projects, will take you back to Kenya’s street disco-esque ways.

Schlachthofbronx is a DJ duo from Munich/Germany who produces and plays innovative multi genre club music. Besides being known as on point performers on club and festival stages, the guys also built their reputation with production and studio work with and for artists like Snoop Dogg, M.I.A., Major Lazer, Buraka Som Sistema, Bonde Do Role, and others. In the club they deliver a fast paced, eclectic mix of styles and genres, reflecting their various influences reaching from Dancehall/Reggae and Hip Hop over Booty Bass to Techno, Cumbia and UK Bass – amongst others.

Their new ten-track release titled Rave And Romance directly represents the diversity of their unique sound between rump shaking slow jams and bass-heavy rave tunes. Fellow ravers and romantics Nicky Da B, Warrior Queen, Bonde Do Role and candelilla got recruited for the release and added the shouts as well as the dirty talk. These guys play clubs, festivals, museums, tents, boats, floats, busses, strip joints and beer tents – it doesn’t matter where, Schlachthofbronx always starts a party. With their Rave And Romance formula – and their bag of custom made tracks and exclusives – Schlachthofbronx will continue to put happy and sweaty smiles upon peoples’ faces.

Supporting acts from Nairobi will be DJ Tendwa, Alai K and Just A Band. This event takes place in the context of the German Week 2015.

The holiday season is just around the corner, which means it’s time to relax and chill out at the coast. In order to put you in the right moodAlai K and Kombo invite you for the Pwani Grooves night!

Pwani Grooves combines the styles of two musicians from the coastal side of Kenya, showcasing the Mijikenda and Swahili styles of music. Alai K and Kombo with his Afrosimba Band will fuse rhythms like Kirumbizi, Mwanzele, Sengenya and Chakacha with modern instruments to bring the melodies of the coast right to the center of the busy and energetic city of Nairobi.

Alai K was raised in a Swahili cultural environment which influenced his current way of singing and musical direction. His songs feature Swahili poetry and storytelling; Ndege Ruka, one of his songs, was recently featured as end title in the movie “Nairobi Half Life”. Kombowas exposed to live music from an early age. Over the years, he learnt to play several instruments, like percussion and guitar, was part of several bands and performed at various festivals in Africa and Europe. Kombo’s first album “Ndivyo Ilivyo” was completed in 2009 and he is right now working on his sophomore album.
