Moses Nyawanda-Paintings
Moses Nyawanda shows his recent paintings inspired mainly from his personal lifestyle and experiences and influenced by the cubist style. He uses his art as a tool of remembering, recognizing and appreciating one’s history, as well as for keeping records for future use.

Kepha Mosoti-Sculptures
Kepha is a graduate of the Buru Buru Institute of Fine Arts. A multi-talented artist, Kepha prefers to concentrate on sculpting using mixed media. He is greatly inspired by African culture and women. He has recently been using mahogany wood to create hyper-realistic work that is quite mind boggling.

Maddo, one of Kenya’s long standing media cartoonists, and Sasa Hivi Media launch Maddo’s Online Archive & Community website ‘Itsamaddworld.com’.

Maddo has continued to engage Kenyan readers with his satirical look at Kenya, the world, people and politics for the last 22 years, through his full page composite cartoon feature ‘It’s a Madd Madd World’ that appears in the Standard newspaper ever Saturday.

The launch will be spiced by the Spotlight artist and Ohangla man ‘Makadem’.

Take away the Lady! A thriller by Jimmie Chinn, adapted by Festival of Creative Arts (FCA) 6, 7, 8 May at Alliance Francaise. FRI 6th May at 6:30 and 8pm, SAT and SUN at 3pm, 6pm and 8pm.

Intriguing glimpses into a cupboard full of family skeletons, together with detective work, combine in this unusual suspense play, to keep everyone guessing until the very last page. A man, still protesting his innocence, returns home from prison, after serving fifteen years for allegedly murdering his mother. Who did kill Mother? It takes an apparent suicide and a good deal of amateur sleuthing before the truth is revealed and the lady can be taken away…

20th European Film Festival, May 12-29 2011 @ Alliance


Alliance Française will be hosting the 20th edition of the annual European Film Festival this year. The European Film Festival is the longest running Festival in the country and mini-versions do take place at the Alliance Française in Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret.

Organized under the auspices of the Delegation of the European Union, the 2011 edition will feature recent films from 15 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

The European Film Festival showcases rich, diverse and refreshing content from Europe reflecting a multi-cultural 21st century Europe yet preserving historical depth and distinctive characteristics.
