Kwani Trust will host a mini tribute to the fallen rapper/poet Gwiji of Ukoo Flani, with thought provoking Hip Hop music by Mwas and Zakah of Ukoo Flani, performances of poetry and dramatized readings from ‘Kwani? 03’ by Poets Monajamonj, Checkmate Mido and writer Aleya Kassam all backed by the band Yellow Light Machine. ‘Kwani? 03’ was one of the first literary publications to feature the urban youth speak poetry called ‘Shen’g’ in a section aptly named ‘Sheng’spere’.
This book featured works by Ukoo Flani members Mc Kah, Kitu Sewer and Gwiji.
