The Nairobi Orchestra present the JUNE CONCERTS. For those who attended the March concerts, you will notice more Rachmaninov, but also a Kenyan composer’s arrangement of Malaika as well as a lesser known trumpet concerto by Hummel.

Finally, we finish with Beethoven’s landmark ‘Pastoral’ symphony.

Having had a successful ran of ‘What Happens In The Night’ that saw the company stage it late 2017 in Nanyuki and Nairobi and in April 2018 – Prevail Arts Company stages the play’s final show at 3pm, Sunday 13th – Braeburn Theatre, Gitanga Road.

SYNOPSIS
The news makers go home too; the media personalities, the artistes and the leaders – those expected to give commentary on the times. What happens when the scandals they investigate and instigate follow them home? Roy is having a tough time at work as a news anchor, he lives with his sister Ng’endo, a nurse who has her own issues to handle. Don their father, an ex politician might have gotten himself in some murky business. Will their family and relationships stand the storm that hits their home? A riveting drama about a prominent family trying to balance their personal baggage with being in the limelight, while interrogating the on-goings of Kenya in frustrating times.

The first Nairobi Orchestra concerts of 2017 are just 2 weeks away! It’s the ‘S’ concert, with pieces by Svendsen, Saint-Saens and Sibelius plus various melodies from the Suite from Star Wars Epic to start the concerts off!

Joining us for the two violin pieces will be Rachel Ellis, who is the leader of Horsham Symphony Orchestra, and who is currently volunteering at Kampala Music School for 6 months. She’ll also be boosting our own violins in the Sibelius.

We’re back at our usual venue of Braeburn School Theatre on Gitanga Road – Saturday March 18th at 7pm and Sunday March 19th at 3pm.

The Kenya Conservatoire of Music launches Fret Venture – Time Through Music concert. Fret Venture is an annual concert hosting performances of guitar students which is in its 5th great year. This year the event will be held on;

About
The event will feature performances from a wide variety of genres and eras with the guitar as the base instrument. From solo performances to band arrangements the program will have 25 songs that cover jazz, rock, pop, R&B, funk, afro and reggae. It will encourage the musicians to notate their arrangements as it prepares them for the professional stage. Our teacher Manaseh Uzele arranges all the pieces performed in the concert.
