“The Food Challenge” is a documentary about the use of toxic pesticides in Kenya and the threat they pose to people’s health, the environment and food security.

The story exposes the manner in which small-scale farmers believe in the promises made by pesticide manufacturers for better yields. The film critically questions whether agro-chemicals are needed to fight hunger whilst simultaneously proposing alternative approaches to food production, such as organic farming.

Motorshow/Spotlight on Kenyan Music: Celebrating 10 Years of Impact, Sept. 19-20 2015 @ KICC

Spotlight
Date: September 19-20, 2015
Venue: KICC

About
The Spotlight on Kenyan musical journey is a discovery of Kenya’s musical diversity, born of a cross-pollination of modern, contemporary music fused with local influences. It is a unique initiative in the region which has consistently developed, exposed and promoted local musical traditions as a resource for innovation and creativity. Its 10-year long span would not have been possible without the dedicated support of French cultural cooperation in Kenya and Total Kenya Ltd, the cooperation of the Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts as well as the partnership with Ketebul Music. It is fitting therefore that the programme’s 10th anniversary is marked at the 2015 Total Motor Show coinciding with the 60th anniversary celebrations of Total’s operations in Kenya.

Two afternoons of live performances by several Spotlight stars will celebrate this milestone which has become a platform for the development of genuine Kenyan musical identity ensuring that Kenyan music remains discernable on the international music scene.

Naipolitans: Urban Enthusiasts Getting Together v15

For our last forum of 2013, join us as we go up to the top of the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) and watch the sun set over our beautiful Nairobi.

Located at the heart of the Central Business District, the KICC is the single most recognized landmark of Nairobi’s skyline. Completed in 1974, the 28-storey building stands at a height of 105 metres. It succeeded the Hilton Nairobi as the tallest building in Kenya and held that position for 26 years before Teleposta Tower surpassed it in 2000 at 120 metres. KICC’s light teracotta façade and use of simple solid shapes and cuboids is intended to reflect traditional African architecture. Some would say the silhouette of this building has become the de facto symbol of Nairobi.

We encourage you to arrive at 5.30 pm (note the Centre closes entry at 6pm). We will be allowed to stay until 6.30 pm.

Bring your cameras, pencils and sketchbooks. See you there!
