SARABI PROFILE
SARABI was formed in 2005 and has in the recent years proved to be one of the most promising Afro Fusion Band in Kenya. The group is made up of 8 young Men hailing from the Eastlands Slums of Nairobi. All the members started playing music at an early age of 11 yrs and have over the years worked together to create one of the most solid bands in the Kenyan Music Scene.
Their music, made up of heavy traditional Kenyan Rythms, Benga and a blend of Western sounds has proved to be the missing link in the Afro-fusion Genre of Music. A feature on Drum Magazine in Oct 2007 declared the Band as the next force in Kenyan music.

Electrafrique is premier concert series bringing together a worldwide network of artistes fusing elements of African music with Electronic Music. Pioneered by Swiss international Dj Cortega, and championed by such brand ambassadors as Electrique Djs & The Beat Parade Band from Kenya, Electrafrique is an obsession with the magical rhythm element in African Music in fusion with contemporary urban/futuristic electronic beats culminating in a sound that identifies solidly as African and resonates with people from all corners of the world.

Conversation: Being a Hero in Nairobi’s Urban Setting, Oct. 11 2013 @ Alliance

Date: October 11, 2013
Venue: 3rd Floor, Alliance Française
Time: 6-8 pm (event starts 6.30pm sharp)

Being a Hero in Nairobi’s Urban Setting
On October 20, we celebrate Mashujaa day, a time to commemorate all the men and women who fought for Kenya’s independence. In keeping with this theme, our conversation this Friday will be on the topic of heroes.

Mashujaa = those of courage.

This courage is used towards creating a positive impact, however small, so as to improve the lives of people in society.

Join this conversation on Friday to explore the idea of being a “hero” in Nairobi’s urban setting.
