Gallery open: Tuesday through Saturday, from 10am – 5:00pm and Sunday, from noon – 5:00pm

About

SOI: The Three Chapters; paintings from three generations within the Soi Dynasty. From the dancing animals of Ancent Soi, along with his beautifully detailed anthropological record of the Maasai and Kamba culture, to the saucy and politically incorrect acrylics of his son Michael and ending with the beautifully observed,  honest paintings of his fifteen year old daughter Malli, the exhibition spans the generations.  Three distinct styles, three diverse frames of reference but with a curiously strong thread which runs down through the generations.

Curated by Thom Ogonga, the show is a fascinating and beautiful vignette of one family’s view of their culture, its influences and their immediate surroundings.

About

Sex & The City V is a continued exploration of the city’s controversial sex industry. Allowing for sometimes uncomfortable musings about personal relations between consenting adults.

It provokes us to contemplate the depths beneath the images, parody of social realities in the space we live in – Nairobi, without glorifying promiscuity.

Exhibition: Sex and the City III by Michael Soi, Thom Ogonga & Onyis Martin, Nov. 6-12 2017 @ Alliance Française

Dates: November 6-12, 2017
Venue: Alliance Française

About
Sex & the City III is an objective look at what the three participating artists – Michael Soi, Thom Ogonga and Onyis Martin are interested in: from courtship, to sex as a tool of uplifting one’s economic status, to same sex relations, as well as the pretence of being liberal.

It looks at the thin line between culprit and victim while re-questioning the subject within the space we line in Nairobi. Sex & The City playfully (in a serious way) explores the burgeoning local sex tools industry, body enhancement and the place of moral institutions in all this.
