Harry Kimani is an award winning musician and composer, a fine voice, an excellent guitarist and passionate composer is the best way to describe him. This superstar musician has already become a leader of his own style and we still haven’t heard anything yet. Harry Kimani can be described as Africa’s answer to John Mayer.
Harry Kimani has three albums to his name, African Woman 2001, Unborn 2004, Tuishi Mi Nawe 2007 probably the best selling album in Kenya.
Harry Kimani is currently working on his fourth studio album, which is due late this year. You should keep your selves posted because this is going to be the best album out of East Africa ever.
Harry has had various achievements as an artist and has had various nominations and won different awards around the region like.
• 2005 Kisima Music Awards for Best Song of the year for the Song HAIYA.
• 2005 Kisima Music Awards for Best Music Video of the year for HAIYA
• His also been nominated for the most promising male artist by the Kora Awards 2005.
Harry Kimani has performed alongside a number of international musicians such as Hugh Masekhela, Richard Bona, Thandiswa Mazwai, Baaba Maal, The Band Blof, Tracy Chapman, and many other artists.
Harry has performed for various audiences around the world in Europe and Africa His recent performances have included the Festival Mundial, North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, North Sea Jazz Salutes Nairobi, and Bløf’s Umoja Project launch in Amsterdam, Kenya Independence celebrations in South Africa, and many more concerts.
In the maestros own words, “My music comes from the heart. It is in my essence, and that’s what comes through my music.” When we compiled the album “Unborn”, it was just as the name suggests, unborn. There has to be a beginning to something, and this is definitely the continuation of a great journey into music.
