Malian guitarist Habib Koité is one of Africa’s most popular and recognised musicians. Habib is unique because he brings together different Malian music traditions, creating a new pan Malian approach that reflects his open-minded interest in all types of music. Habib has played at most of Europe’s major venues and festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Womad, and the World Roots Festival.
He has been featured in hundreds of newspapers, magazines and tv shows including People Magazine, Rolling Stones, Le Monde, Songlines, De Standaard, Le Soir and the cover of Global Rhythm magazine, House of Blues Radio Hour, Vanity Fair Magazine, CNN, WorldBeat to name a few.
In 2001, Habib Koitéand Bamada became one of the few African artists to appear Late Night with David Letterman one of America’s most popular television variety shows. Habib Koité and Bamada have performed nearly 1000 shows since 1994 and appeared on some of the world’s most prestigious concert stages. His recording, which have sold over 200,000 units are Muso Ko (1995), Ma Ya (1998), Baro (2001), Live (2004), Afriki (2007), Acoustic Africa in Concert (2011) and Brothers in Bamako (2012)
