Black History Month established in 1976 – now celebrated nationally and internationally in February – is the fruitful vision of Dr. Carter G. Woodson, founder of the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History. Part of the aim of Black History is to recognize significant contributions to society made by people with African heritage.
Paa Ya Paa Arts Centre celebrates Black History Month with a host of activities and special Black History film showings at different venues. Sponsored by Paa Ya Paa Arts Centre, Friends of Paa Ya Paa and The American Embassy, movie viewings are open to the public.
At Paa Ya Paa, viewers can also enjoy a Walk Thru Black History Photo Exhibit and a Finale Program of music, singing, dancing and drumming
