Urbana Africana returns with eclectic choreographic pieces that merge traditional and contemporary African dance, Hip Hop/Urban, Afro- Latin and Caribbean dance forms.
The different choreographic pieces juxtaposed, represent different people and cultures coming together, illuminating the power of dance to connect people across different historical, physical and social strata on the African continent and its Diaspora. This is an experimental dance performance choreographed by Kiki Cheptoo that will sometimes favor instant composition and improvisation.
Urbana Africana draws from the beauty of Kenya’s unmatched natural landscapes, material culture, ancient melodies and diverse human cultures.
In cooperation with Urbana Africana and Art Moves Africa (AMA)
