Play: A Cry for Help, Apr 23 – 24 2011 @ Kenya National Theatre

Setting is in modern Kenya.

The story begins in court where three people are on trial; The Local police inspector, the town mayor and Junior, the inspector’s wayward son.  They are accused of various crimes.. and the witness in the stand is none other than the Inspector’s wife.

She is in a state of confusion as defending any of the witnesses would mean accusing the other, including her husband and son. The Drama unfolds through her eyes as she takes the audience on to the series of events leading on to the case.  We find an inspector who will clearly stop at nothing to rid the community of its evils and the gangs and cartels behind it. Shock awaits him as what he finds out threatens to ruin his family.. and shake his loyalties, personal and professional.

A cry for help is a high energy conscious drama that brings to light issues of family values, integrity and honesty and how they affect the society. Delivered with an exciting fusion of poetry and spoken word, this is a wake up call set to leave the audience at the edge of their seat and in the verge of taking their place to answer the society’s cry for help.

The cast includes among others Elizabeth Wangui, Emmanuel Omamo, Samwel Waweru, Paul Kamau, Cynthia Awinja, Sarah Mwihaki and Aziricome Andove with a special appearance by kajvincent and Juliani.
