Ndakaini Half Marathon, Sept. 17 2011 @ Ndakaini


This is an Athletics Kenya annual event and is open to participants of all ages who wish to prove that they can handle the challenging 21 Km course around the scenic Ndakaini Dam (Altitude 2040m).

Date :17th September 2011
Venue : Ndakaini ( Start / nish)
Main Race : 21 km (Men & Women)
Other Races : 10km, 5km and 3 km (Men & Women)
Time : 8.00 am

Open to the public & corporate teams.
Registration : Individual Ksh 500
Coporate Ksh 50,000 – (Maximum 10 People)
All proceeds will go towards conservation of Ndakaini Dam catchment area.

Transport will be available from Nairobi to Ndakaini and back.
Cost: Kshs 500 per person
Departure from Nairobi: 7.00 am
Departure from Ndakaini : 5.00 pm
Pick up and drop o point: Parking lot next to Kenya-Re Plaza opposite High court parking .

Capital FM’s 15th Birthday Party, Sept. 10 2011 @ Carnivore

Its been 15yrs of your best mix of music and we are going to celebrate it in style. This Friday 9th September its capitalfm’s 15th birthday party at the carnivore. The red and yellow 15yrs birthday party with 3 DJ stages and bar service from Capital FM presenters.

Queer cinema comes out!

The Inaugural OUT FILM FESTIVAL will be the first public showing of cinema that reflects the life of sexual minorities.

The film festival wants to make known a community that Kenyan society deems to be secret. The festival aims to entertain, educate and celebrate. There will be a variety of films and documentaries from within and outside the continent that will alter the way you look at the way the Queer community lives and loves. People just like you, people who are African themselves.

A Day with Dekha – fundraiser and commemoration, Sep 10 2011 @ Karura Forest

Next Saturday there are a series of events to commemorate Dekha  Ibhrahim Abdi. She was an accomplished peacemaker tragically killed about a month ago in a car accident along with her husband, leaving behind 4 kids.

First a sponsored walk to raise some funds for education for Dekha Ibrahim Abdi’s kids.
Come walk in Karura Forest  and plant/buy a tree for planting in an area we have cleared as a peace corner in commemoration not just to her, but  to all those who work for a peaceful stable society in Kenya. Come add your energy and good wishes to this lovely spot.

Kenya’s culture comes to town again, on screen, for the 10th time. It is a celebration of the various cultural images that define Kenya, its cultural mosaic.

Images of Kenya is a popular annual showcase for documentary films produced in Kenya. It represents films covering a cross section of Kenya’s cultural and tourism potential.
Images of Kenya is an annual Film Festival organised by the Department of Film Services in the Ministry of Information and Communications.

As usual, one day of the screenings is dedicated to the final works of graduates of Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

This screenings are brought by Goethe in cooperation with Department of Film Services and K.I.M.C.

Exhibition: Recent Paintings-Michael Soi, Sept. 6-31 2011 @ Alliance

Michael Soi is a member of the 2nd generation of Kenyan artists who emerged through the Kuona Art Studio in the late 1990s.
Soi is exhibiting his present series of paintings that address graft as well as a series that revolves around the denial that surrounds the existence of prostitution and strip clubs.
