Movie screening: Viva Riva, from Oct. 7 2011 @ Silverbird Cinemas Village Market

In Kinshasa, every day is a struggle and every night is a party. In a city where everything is for sale, Riva has something everyone wants.

In the film Viva Riva, the lead character is a small-time operator who has just returned home to the Democratic Republic of Congo with a truckload of much sought after petrol, stolen from an Angolan crime lord.

With his pockets full of cash, Riva hits the town and falls in love with a local gangster’s girlfriend.

The plot thickens when his erstwhile accomplices arrive hot on his heels in pursuit of the stolen cache.
