This Kenya-Somali film is directed by Mahad Ahmed and Vincenzo Cavallo (directors of Wazi FM).  It recently premiered at the Warsaw International Film Festival.

Mahad is a Somali Kenyan actor/director, casting director and co-founder of the Nairobi based collective Somali React and Vincenzo is an Italian Kenyan producer/director and script writer and the co-founder of Cultural Video Production/Foundation based in Kenya.

Bufis (daydreamers) is based on a true story.  Many Somalis dream of a life in the West. Assad is the best fixer in Nairobi. When the U.S. opens the green-card lottery, he brings a prostitute, a former warlord, a runaway bride, a widower, and his daughter together to form a fake family.

To coincide with the Africa Climate Summit, the artists Evans Ngure and Wallace Juma come together in an exhibition to contemplate on how best humans can co-exist with carbon, giver of life, now associated with all the drama of life on earth.

Evan’s breathes life into an assortment of discarded material and found objects to create animal sculptures and educate on the need to maintain biodiversity and practice better waste management.

Wallace’s art uses reclaimed materials from dumpsites to hold conversations with the viewer on the nature of modern consumerism, peeling away layers of superficial masks to expose a different reality.
