Play: Out of Business, Oct 29-30 2011 @ National Theatre

Out of Business by Bitter Pill Productions is at Kenya National Theatre on 29 and 30 Oct at 3pm and 6pm. Charges are Sh. 350 advance, Sh. 400 at the gate.

Mel, a well paid executive of a fancy company in Nairobi, has been married for ten years but his relatives believe that his wife hangs around him because of his money. His wife works so hard to prove her in-laws wrong but the more she tries to win their love the more they dislike her.

Mel gets the axe as the company starts to trim the payroll. His wife takes a job to tide them over, and then she too is sacked. As if this weren’t enough, Mel is fighting a losing battle with the environs of life. Polluted air is killing everything that grows on his terrace, the apartment is burgled, his psychiatrist dies with his money and finally he has a nervous breakdown. The couple has the courage and endurance to survive but only time will tell if they’ll pull through.
