Kenyan cartoonists, theatre practitioners, performance poets and musicians team up to awaken you and I to Hii Chapta 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.

It is an invitation to the public and the public servants to reflect on the principles enshrined in Chapter 6 on Leadership and Integrity and take stock of its implementation and the conduct of the public officers to date.

Hii Chapta provides that power exercised by leaders is a public trust that is to be exercised to serve the people. Officers are required to demonstrate respect for the people of Kenya, make decisions objectively and impartially, refuse to be influenced by favouritism or corruption, serve selflessly and be accountable for their actions.

Kenyan cartoonists Celesté, Gathara, Gammz, Kham, VicNdula, Gado, Maddo, Stano and Casso interrogate Hii Chapta through cartoons that captured good governance, leadership and integrity (mostly lack of it).

OffBeat and South African Airways present the inaugural edition of Rhythm & Wine, a novel curated experience of art and music slated for the 12th of August 2016 at the Shifteye Gallery, on the ground floor of Priory Place on Argwings Kodhek Road in Hurlingham.

It is promised to be a multisensory experience for the audience who will against a backdrop of fine art , savour carefully selected wines, all the while being serenaded by acoustic tunes.

It is set to be a forever memorable meeting of worlds, art forms and people; the art pieces are part of the exhibition “Arts to End Slavery” by Haart Kenya, Winyo’s music addresses a myriad of social issues and the wines will be provided by local wine collectors House of Gaitirira, who will bring out their finest selection of Kenyan and South African bottles. The Shifteye Gallery, offers just the right ambience for this, with its airy whitewashed walls providing a neutral, serene and stage.

World Bank Art Program Exhibition: One In Three – What Does It take for You to Be Outraged?

One In Three: What Does It Take for You to Be Outraged? From the World Bank Art Program
The One In Three exhibition is a global exhibition that includes artworks from artists from every region of the world. The title of the exhibition derives from statistics that a third of women in the world will experience gender-based violence (GBV) in their lifetimes. Through works of art and statistical data collected from all regions of the world, the exhibition will raise awareness about universality of gender-based violence, and will encourage a dialogue in the local community about both preventing GBV and the rehabilitation from the trauma of it.

The exhibition will display photographs, paintings and sculpture created by emerging, international contemporary artists that directly confront the issue of GBV. This is art that makes a difference by raising awareness about a global social problem with local effects.
