Experience an exciting and informative program of talk, music, dance, art, storytelling and much more as we celebrate the contributions of the Somali people to the beauty and cultural richness of Kenya.
Featuring some of the best known thinkers, writers, performers and live entertainment stages, the Somali Heritage Week will showcase the best of Somali culture from Kenya and the region on the theme “Identity: What does it mean to be Somali in Kenya?” The goal of this event is to create a place where Somali people and lovers of culture can come together to celebrate the community, to engage with the challenges facing the community, to sustain traditions and to provide a learning opportunity for those outside the culture.
The central site for the Heritage Week is the National Museum of Kenya, Museum Hill in Nairobi, Kenya, although a parallel youth programme will happen in at Awjaama Omar in Eastleigh and at PAWA 254 in Milimani.

Art Festival: Art in the Park, Dec. 6 2015 @ Nairobi National Park.
ArtFest – Artin the Park is a premiere art and cultural showcase event that helps to explore genres of art. It’s one of the largest outdoor juried art festivals in Kenya.
The largest gathering of over 100 Kenyan artists, sculptors and fashion designers exhibiting their work in the beautiful Nairobi National Park.
With a handful of artists and craftspeople to showcase some of the best local and regional artists and craftspeople will display their art which include paintings, photography, music, spoken word, creative writing, singing, dancing, ceramics, fiber, folk art, pottery, graphic arts, sculpture, jewelry, and woodworking from the country’s finest artists.

This exhibition includes NALA Artworks from South Africa to Uganda, Slideshow of the 15.000 km bicycle trip from Cape Town to Uganda and great music.
It will be the biggest NALA exhibition in Africa with Artworks from 11 Countries.

About
Bangladeshi artist Rakeeb Hassan’s first ever one-man show took place in Kenya in 1994. His paintings are the colour of everything – what we think or what we can’t think, what we see or what we can’t see, assembling i all to portray a universe of freedom, free thought and tolerance.This exhibitions pays homage to the murdered bloggers of Bangladesh and to the lost loves in Kenya’s terror attacks.

The exhibition is a contemporary review and will showcase a wide range of techniques and forms of artistic expression.

Interactive Art Talks delivered by art professionals, artists, collectors and gallery owners are set to take place throughout the 3 days, allowing you the opportunity to listen, learn, think and interact.
We encourage you to come out and further these 2 hour conversations on all things art.DIGITAL ART COMPETITION
This competition was designed for artists, practitioners and enthusiasts who are impassioned by the intersection of digital technology and creative art; visionaries who might uniquely meld the two into inspiring art forms.
Submissions had to qualify for one of the four categories namely: Audio-Visual, Interactive Art, Interactive Hardware Installation and Digital Photography.
Winners in each category will be awarded with cash prizes and have their works exhibited at this year’s art fair as well as online.
