GoDown Arts Centre

The GoDown Arts Centre is a long running multi-disciplinary non-profit focal point for artistic experimentation, cross-sector partnerships and creative collaborations in East Africa. The GoDown is active in policy advocacy for a better working environment for Kenyan artists and promotes community engagement with culture and the arts. The GoDown champions the role of culture in sustainable urban development and nation-making.   

The GoDown has consistently strived to inspire, motivate and build capacity of artists and arts organizations to engage and pursue excellence in the visual, media and performing arts. It has consequently aimed to create a programmatic framework that enhances experimentation and develops exciting cultural art forms in Kenya that also have international impact.  

To do this, The GoDown works with artists and organisations of similar interest to initiate and produce a wide variety of performance and visual art forms. Over the years it has hosted and produced significant local, regional and international events that engage broad and diverse audiences.
