Call For Short Films Submissions For Mathare Youth Film Festival
The Mathare Youth Film Festival is the first of its kind in Kenya. MYFF is a youth film competition, but apart from the daily screenings, MYFF will also be a five day workshop, where youth from the Nairobi slums will be taught the essentials of filmmaking.
A key idea in MYFF is to screen films about slum/underdeveloped areas around the globe – from Indian slum suburbs and Mongolian ger camps to Brazilian Favelas and South African townships. The diversity and similarities of the films will shed some light on what life is like being young and living in a slum or underdeveloped area in 2012. The vision is to paint a more updated and less bleak picture of the lives of young people coping, enjoying and living in the slums of the world. For more information: http://myff.atspace.tv/
This is a call for submissions of films shot around or in a slum across the world. Feel free to get in touch with Andreas Juul Johansen: andreasjuuljohansen [at] @gmail.com for more information.

Stand a chance to win a month of free yoga @ Bikram Yoga Nairobi

Kenya’s first Bikram Yoga studio is coming to Nairobi! Opening Soon!, 2nd Floor, Lavington Green Shopping Centre, Nairobi.
Bikram Yoga is a 90 minute series of 26 Hatha yoga postures and two breathing exercises, carried out in a room heated to 40 degrees celcius and 40 percent humidity. The combined heat and humidity increase muscle flexibility and can help to prevent injuries. Bikram Yoga is also very detoxifying, releasing large numbers of toxins through the breath and through the skin by sweating.
Because of the combination of the heat and the sequence of postures, the practise is very intense, and has dramatic and immediate results. This yoga is highly addictive. Hundreds of thousands of normal people around the world have been cured of physical ailments, anxiety and stress, and have dropped several dress sizes in the process.
Bikram Yoga Nairobi is offering members a beautiful studio with a state of the art heated yoga room, large changing rooms and showers, free unlimited purified drinking water, a juice and smoothie bar, and yoga clothing boutique.
