Patamango: Argentine Tango Initiation Session (2.5hrs)

Event description
A 2 and a half hour session to solidly introduce and establish the physiological and musical fundamentals of dancing Tango Argentino, and is intended for all prospective beginners wishing to start learning Argentine Tango, as well as everyone else who wishes to revisit the all-important basics of posture, stepping and cadence. This session is also a requirement to be able to attend any of the other classes offered by the Patamango Association.
Registration (via email to nairobi.tango@patamango.com) is absolutely mandatory, as space is limited – but note that, to favour good learning of the basic principles from each of you, we encourage you all to do the initiation session as many times as you feel you get a benefit out of it, while we only require a cost participation the first time.
This session is offered periodically, subject to demand and to our availability — please make sure to always check the Nairobi Tango Calendar that is online on the www.patamango.com website.
Patamango still offers Milongas on evenings, just for the pleasure of dancing!
This Sunday, 8.00 to 11.00 pm, at the Italian Cultural Center.
Note that a participation is requested (500 KES, and 200 KES for students) for Milongas at the Italian Cultural Center, and that we have a potluck refreshment table!!!

This only proves that everyone, no matter where they live, needs to dance and to embrace others. Tango is the best way to do that with beautiful music. I congratulate you for organizing classes.
Learning about the culture is an important element of tango, not only the language but the codes of the milonga. My blog Tango Chamuyo gives that information along with YouTube videos taken in the milongas of Buenos Aires. I know it will benefit all those who want to learn the dance.
Thank you… indeed, it is essential to also learn about the “culture” of tango (if we allow ourselves to believe that we can at all talk of one without the other!). As you may have seen on our website we actually do tend to use the term “tango” to mean “culture of tango”… And, the culture in tango in this area–this area being all of central africa with the closest milonga in any direction being only about 4000 km away!–seems particularly delicate… indeed it seems our weekly milonga is the only one between Cairo and Johannesburg!
And thank you for such a prolific blog on all of tango! It is indeed very helpful to lessen our spatial isolation… !
